The city of Holly Hill, Florida is located entirely on Florida mainland, as opposed to its larger neighboring cities including Daytona Beach and Ormond Beach. The city's history dates back to the 1800s when over 4500 acres was given to Don Fernando from the Governor of Mexico. This area was eventually given to Thomas Fitch who then sold an area that eventually became Holly Hill to Mr. Samuel Flemming Sr. This area across from the Halifax River started to become developed and then he lost everything in the Seminole War.
