Information about the City of Jensen Beach Florida

Located just north of West Palm Beach, Jensen Beach Florida is a relatively small town of roughly 12,000 situated on the Atlantic side of the state. Although Jensen Beach is an unincorporated community, it does have within its boundaries the incorporated town of Ocean Breeze Park. While offering many of the traditional attractions of beach communities in Florida, Jensen Beach's centralized location and family oriented activities have made it an attractive place for those looking at houses for rent in Jensen Beach.

The town of Jensen Beach began in the late 19th century as a Pineapple farm when John Jensen came from Denmark to set up his plantation. Aided by the railway, the newly formed town of Jensen became known as the "Pineapple Capitol of the World" until a series of natural disasters and a hard freeze had the residents switching from pineapples to other citrus crops. Still, the pineapple is the symbol of Jensen and is still celebrated in annual festivals.

Today, Jensen still has a thriving citrus industry, but the main driver of the economy is still tourism given the beautiful beaches with fishing, water sports and sun bathing. The hotel and retail industries as with most beach communities are strong, providing plenty of job opportunities for those looking for work. In addition, for those looking at attractions within the community of Jensen Beach there are several golf courses as well as parks and recreational centers perfect for families. Those looking for houses for rent in Jensen Beach will find a number of attractions in a family-oriented atmosphere perfect for those just starting out and the climate warm enough for those looking at places to retire.

One of the more interesting attractions for those who love nature is the protected beach for sea turtles that come ashore every year. There are three major species of sea turtles that people can view in their protected areas during the day, but there are restrictions at night so that the vast majority of the turtles can come ashore without human presence.

Finding houses for rent in Jensen Beach FL is no different than most communities in Florida. The recent economic downturn affected this state somewhat more severely than most others because of the collapse in the housing market. Today, the economy is slowly turning around but for those looking at housing opportunities in terms of purchasing real estate, or finding apartments, duplexes and homes for rent in Jensen Beach the outlook appears to be good. Naturally, houses for rent in Jensen Beach along the shoreline are going to be more rare and expensive than those located in the interior of the town.

Whether you are looking at a place to retire or find a new job, there are enough rental properties in Jensen Beach that you’ll find plenty of opportunities in this small and beautiful town along the Atlantic coast of Florida.
